Hello Everyone!
We’ve had a very dreamy month here at 26.2 with Donna. In fact, you could say McDreamy. We traveled to Maine to meet with Patrick Dempsey and learned all about his Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing. What a wonderful guy with a huge heart for those living with cancer. You can learn more about that visit in this edition of the newsletter. We also had the opportunity to meet with our favorite female running rock star, Joan Benoit Samuelson. Joanie is running the full 26.2 in Jacksonville Beach this year and she is also debuting her new documentary There is No Finish Line on race weekend. It is a not to be missed feature of our 5th anniversary run and Joanie will host a special showing the Friday night before the marathon.

If you're a fan of Grey's Anatomy, you are no doubt familiar with the very aptly named Dr. McDreamy played by Patrick Dempsey. But when Dempsey isn't on screen, he's doing a lot of great work for cancer patients in his home state of Maine.
Donna Deegan recently traveled to Maine - along with 26.2 with Donna Director Amanda Napolitano for the Dempsey Challenge, a bike ride that raises money for the Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing.

Friday Night's Private Screening of Joan Benoit Samueson's Film - There is No Finish Line - Presented by Key Buick |
While there are many things in life we aim to finish, like breast cancer, there are other things in life that continue with us always. For many of us, running is this constant. It is our balance. It is our release valve. Fears and worry are left on the road of a training run. There is no finish line.
"We are all marathoners..." - Joan Benoit Samuelson
26.2 with Donna is thrilled to announce a private screening of Joan Benoit Samuelson's new film - There is No Finish Line - Presented by Key Buick on Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts at 8:00 p.m.

By Olympian Jeff Galloway
Crossing the finish line in the 13.1 with Donna is an empowering experience that can improve the quality of life. Not only do you receive the personal achievement boost - you're helping to rid the world of breast cancer.
You only need to run/walk for 30 minutes on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Half of the weekends will only require about 60 minutes of exercise. Just look at the schedule on our website and see the gradual increase in a very slow endurance run/walk. Thousands have gotten off the couch and finished a half marathon in 15 weeks.

Forefront is the magazine of Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, a leader in translational cancer research and the effort to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer for patients around the globe.
When I think about the overall theme of the stories that appear on the following pages, a simple quote comes to mind: "The best interest of the patient is the only interest to be considered, and in order that the sick may have the benefit of advancing knowledge, union of forces is necessary."

Fundraising Example - A Limerick a Day |
Retired teachers Bill and Helen Abdelnour had an idea. Because Bill has always liked to write and has a special fondness for limericks, he decided to create a Limerick-A-Day calendar for 2012. When a friend suggested supporting a local charity in conjunction with this, neither one hesitated to choose 26.2 with Donna. Helen is a nearly ten-year breast cancer survivor and is grateful to be able to help this exceptional organization.
