February 2010 Letter from Donna
Hello Everyone!
This is the time in our race preps when I’m just so jazzed I can hardly sit still. (Not that I have much time for sitting still when I know I have company coming in just a few days!) I can’t wait to welcome you all to Jacksonville and its beautiful beaches! It’s been a long hard winter for many. Some of you are just digging out from the snow. We promise, no shovels will be necessary on the race course Sunday.
I’ll be brief today because there is much to read. But before you dig into all the details of the race, I want to call your attention to something very special in this newsletter. We’ve attached a recent article about what is being done with our research dollars. It was my hope when we started the race that we could make a real and immediate impact on the efforts to end breast cancer. That is exactly what our Mayo Clinic researchers have done. I am blown away by the progress already. I want you to feel great about where your dollars are going and for those of you who are fundraising, this is something that should help you tremendously. We are making a difference and as you will read, this is research that would have never been funded by government dollars. All this and we are still providing help to our financially challenged sisters and, yes, brothers with breast cancer as well.
When you step onto this race course on Sunday, and the pink confetti sends you on your way, please know that with each step you are getting us closer to our goal. As a three time survivor I want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. See you in a few days…
Let’s Finish it, baby!
Donna
