President/Creative Director of The Kurtis Group
Kurtis Loftus is recognized by his peers as one of the areas foremost creative talents. His has spent twenty five years working in the Jacksonville, Florida advertising and design industry. He is President/Creative Director of The Kurtis Group, a Jacksonville Beach, advertising agency specializing in focused and creative marketing strategies for small business.
Kurtis has illustrated three books, published a nationally distributed surfing magazine and has spent over seventeen years as a creative director for an international active lifestyle tradeshow company responsible for marketing and publishing materials. He has been tapped to concept and develop art for numerous high profile events including the Annual Gator Bowl Classic, ACC Championship Game, Jacksonville Jazz Festival and PGA — America Supports You.
Kurtis is a founding member of the American Institute of Graphic Artists local chapter and serves on the Advisory Board of the Flagler College Graphics Department. He participates in bi-annual portfolio reviews for both Flagler and AIGA, providing creative direction and feedback to aspiring graphic designers. He frequently judges art exhibitions, mentors graphic design students and employs student interns.
He is a member of the Jacksonville Marketing and Advertising Club and participates annually in the American Advertising Federation’s Addy Awards program. Over the years, Kurtis has earned numerous local, state and national awards including a National Silver Addy for his Kingpins CD cover design. In 2006 Kurtis won a regional Gold ADDY for a series of illustrations done on behalf of The Donna Hicken Foundation.
In 2004, he was honored as AAF’s Silver Medalist. The Silver Medal Award is the group’s highest honor, recognizing an advertising professional who has furthered industry standards, achieved creative excellence and is actively involved in community service.
Kurtis is a member of The Executive Committee’s CEO Roundtable and the board of directors for the Beaches Area Historical Society. He is also a member of the Beaches division of Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and was honored as their Small Business Leader of the Year in 2001.
Kurtis is married to Margaret, his wife of 23 years and has two daughters: Kirsten, age 16 and Katherine, age 14. In his spare time he enjoys water sports including surfing, boating and wake boarding. He also plays golf, participates in runs and enjoys spending time with his family.
